To Send a Prayer

Just how many balloons would it take to send a letter to heaven? This series of paintings was inspired by volunteering at Baptist’s Camp Good Grief, a free camp for kids who have lost a close loved one. At the end of camp, the children write a letter to their lost loved one and tie it to a yellow balloon. When their loved one’s name is called, they come forward and release their balloon and watch as it disappears into the heavens.

To Send a Prayer uses a simple children’s book illustration style to express complex emotions and subjects of grief, loss, and frustration. How do you send a letter to heaven? What’s the proper postage? Will it get there?
